The Shires Sweet Iron Snaffle With Copper Lozenge is a kind, mild action double jointed bit designed to encourage acceptance. Sweet iron oxidises in the mouth to produce a sweet taste which is favoured by some horses. It's also a warmer metal than stainless steel which helps to encourage salivation and contact. The copper lozenge also produces a sweet taste and is shaped to only apply a mild amount of pressure to the tongue when needed. The mouthpiece is thin, measuring 12mm, with may make this bit more comfortable for horses with smaller mouths. The double joint and loose ring design of this bit allows the mouthpiece to move inside the horse's mouth, preventing the horse from fixing or leaning.
