Shires Hollow Mouth Eggbutt Snaffle
The Shires Hollow Mouth Eggbutt Snaffle is a single jointed snaffle designed with a fairly thick, hollow mouthpiece which is considerably lighter than a solid mouthpiece. This single jointed snaffle has a nutcracker action which works by applying pressure to the bars and tongue, allowing the rider to put more definite and precise pressure on either side of the bit. With an 21mm mouthpiece thickness, this bit is mild and can benefit horses with larger tongues as it has a greater contact area. Eggbutt cheeks are fixed, giving the bit more stability in the mouth and helping to aid steering - this may be more readily accepted by horses needing the security of a more stable bit.
