The Neue Schule Demi-Anky Universal is ergonomically designed to eradicate the nutcracker action and consequent evasions often caused by the traditional, straight-armed single-jointed snaffle. It offers control without discomfort or severity, and is ideal for faster work and jumping as it allows the rider to turn and direct the horse more easily.

The cleverly curved mouthpiece of this bit eliminates interference with the upper palate and prevents the bit from lying too far forwards in the mouth. Traditional jointed bits can pinch the sensitive outer edges of the tongue as they travel forwards in the mouth but the Neue Schule Demi-Anky Universal has been redesigned to ensure that the bit sits correctly, further back in the mouth over the less sensitive area of the tongue. The ergonomic design of this mouthpiece sweeps away from the corner of the lips reducing the risk of rubbing, while offering a superb weight-bearing surface across the bars. Once the horse establishes a correct contact, the bit shape forms a long low shape over the tongue providing relief to the sensitive outer edges.

The Neue Schule Demi-Anky Universal features a uniquely designed gag cheek based on a traditional three ring gag. In a traditional three ring gag, the rings sit parallel to one another; in contrast the Neue Schule Demi-Anky Universal features an angled main ring which sweeps away from the face to prevent the cheek from becoming compressed against the teeth.

The cheek is very well balanced and allows for multiple rein combinations. The cheek can be used with single or double reins and can also be used with Pelham rounding. If the bit does not provide adequate control, a curb strap can be employed from the top ring of the cheek to reinforce turning and control without restricting the horses ability to stretch on his way into a fence.
