Myler Eggbutt Mullen Barrel Bit Without Hooks - Level 2
The Myler Eggbutt Mullen Barrel Bit Without Hooks is a fixed cheek bit that provides more tongue room for your horse with the addition of the center barrel.
Myler bits are made from a polished sweet iron which naturally oxidises and rusts (this will result in bit discolouration which is completely harmless to the horse). This Myler bit also features copper inlay for improved taste and salivation.
The straight side of the eggbutt also doesn't pull through the mouth and doesn't pinch which may cause some distress for your horse. This bit is also legal to use for USEF dressage, FEI dressage and USEA eventing dressage although you may need to consult the organizations rule book for more information.
Level two Myler bit mouthpieces explained
Level two mouthpieces are ideal for most horses moving into Myler bits. They offer greater tongue relief than a level one mouthpiece and are ideal for horses that show resistance to tongue pressure.
Level two mouthpieces introduce the concept of tongue relief to the horse through the means of a port or flexible mouthpiece thus teaching the horse to be more accepting to the contact.
The level two Myler bit collapses slightly in the middle, rotating directly onto the tongue to apply some tongue pressure but nowhere near as much as a level one mouthpiece. The design of the level two Myler bit mouthpiece allows the horse greater tongue relief improving his ability to swallow and elevate his tongue.
The Myler level two mouthpiece also features a central rotating cylinder to the centre of the mouthpiece which prevents the bit from collapsing into a V shape; this cylinder allows the bit to sit in more of a U shape which protects the bars and the lips from being pinched. This cylinder also allows for independent side bar movement for more accurate pressure application. The distinctive curvature to the mouthpiece ensures sufficient tongue room protecting the bards and lips from unintentional pressure and pinching.
